STRATEGY | BRAND CREATION & DESIGN
Where Kyoto meets Sydney.
Matcha-ya literally means matcha shop. And that’s what it is, selling everything from matcha lattes to matcha ice cream and even matcha curries.
Matcha is a Japanese tradition, and our clients wanted the branding to reflect that. But they also felt that there should be a Sydney element to it as well. So beside the traditional kanji brandmark, there is a typographically based wordmark. The full logo is a combination of both cultures. It’s a mark of recognition and appears not only on signage but on the food and drinks themselves- so that when the food or café is Instagrammed it’s instantly recognisable!
